If this year you have decided to visit Cáceres during this special date, we invite you to discover the processions that make this Holy Week a unique moment.

1. Procession of the Burrina – Palm Sunday
One of the processions most loved by the people of Cáceres is the Procession of the Burrina, held on Palm Sunday at 12:00 noon. This event, especially aimed at children, allows them to participate actively, carrying palms and blessed olive trees, while following the passing of the Burrina, which symbolises the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. It is a joyful and colourful procession that marks the beginning of Holy Week in Cáceres.

2. Procession of Silence – Palm Sunday
At 19:00 on Palm Sunday, the Procession of Silence takes place from the Church of Santiago. This is one of the most solemn and emotional processions, where the participants walk through the streets in complete silence, accompanying the images of the Lord on the Way to Calvary and Our Lady of Mercy. The stillness and recollection of this procession make it a moment of deep reflection and spirituality.

3. Procession of the Black Christ – Maundy Thursday
One of the most impressive moments of Holy Week in Cáceres is the Procession of the Black Christ, held in the early hours of Maundy Thursday at midnight. This procession is particularly well known for the figure of the Black Christ, an image of great devotion and veneration in Cáceres. The procession of the Christ, which checks out from the Cáceres Co-cathedral, is accompanied by the faithful who, with great solemnity, walk through the dark streets of the old quarter. The atmosphere of mystery and meditation that surrounds this procession makes it one of the most significant.

4. . Procession of the Dawn – Good Friday
The Procession of the Dawn, held at 05:00 hours on Good Friday, is one of the most intense and spectacular of Holy Week in Cáceres. This procession, which takes place in the early hours of the day, goes through the narrow streets of the old quarter, where the floats represent key moments in the passion and death of Jesus. The atmosphere is one of total solemnity, with participants immersed in reflection on the sacrifice of Christ.

5. Procession of the Holy Burial – Good Friday
At 20:00 on Good Friday, the Procession of the Holy Burial goes through the city in commemoration of the burial of Jesus. From the Ermita de la Soledad Hermitage to the Co-cathedral of Santa María, the faithful accompany the procession of the Holy Burial, with a great emotional charge that recalls the death of Christ and his passage to the tomb. This procession stands out for the beauty and solemnity of the images on display.

6. Procession of the Christ of the Victory – Easter Saturday
The Procession of the Christ of the Victory is another of the highlights of Holy Week in Cáceres. This procession is distinguished by the solemnity of its route and the devotion of the faithful who accompany the Cristo de la Victoria as it passes through the streets of Cáceres. The beauty of the floats and the devotion of the participants make it one of the most important processions in Cáceres.

7. Procession of the Encounter – Easter Sunday
La Procesión del Encuentro, que se celebra a las 11:45 horas del Domingo de Resurrección, es la última gran procesión de la Semana Santa.
