Jerte Valley is about an hour and a half from Cáceres by car. Once you reach the town of Plasencia, you will need to take the N-110 road to enter the area.
Now is the time to enjoy one of Spain’s most beautiful natural phenomena: the cherry blossom in Valle del Jerte.

Between March and April, depending on weather conditions, millions of cherry trees burst into bloom, covering the slopes with a spectacular white blanket.

What to do in Valle del Jerte?

• Hiking among the cherry trees: There are several beautiful routes, such as the Nogaledas Route with its impressive waterfalls, or the Cherry Blossom Route, which passes through small villages and blooming fields.
• Local gastronomy: Don’t leave without trying cherries in aguardiente (a local liqueur), pitarra wine, or traditional dishes like potato soup and goat stew.
• Charming villages: On your visit to the valley, make sure to stop by El Torno with its rural atmosphere, Cabezuela del Valle – the only historical-artistic site in the region – or Piornal, the highest village in Extremadura. Just 45 minutes from Cáceres lies Monfragüe National Park, one of the most important natural spaces in Spain for birdwatching.

Day 4: Trujillo and Guadalupe: A land with history

Trujillo is only 30 minutes from Cáceres. This town, birthplace of conquerors like Francisco Pizarro, has an impressive heritage.
